beyoncé kicks off tour in custom-made balmain
Swapping hot sauce for French dressing.
Beyoncé may have hot sauce in her bag (swag) but last night's opening of the Formation World Tour in Miami was all about French dressing. Taking to the stage in custom-made Balmain bodysuits -- complete with Victorian-style brooches, gold belts, and presumably dry-clean only French lace ruffles -- images of the singer and her backing dancers were quickly shared among the global Beyhive, with no one more pleased than Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing (who would later Instagram a shot of the artist with the caption: "WHEN BALMAIN ARMY BECOMES BEY ARMY").
"Beyoncé is the symbol of freedom, the power of women, and the confidence of extraordinary talent," said the designer, who also recently dressed the Kardashians for Kanye West's Madison Square Garden show. "The Balmain army becomes the Beyoncé army. I love it when my couture meets music." It's a good job: the Formation World Tour takes in a colossal 37 songs, across 41 separate shows. It's Beyoncé season for the foreseeable future.
