fashion east are shaking things up, baby
Fashion East announce autumn/winter 15 line-up and ditch group shows for intimate presentations.
Hold onto your knickers, kids, leading support scheme Fashion East will be shaking things up this season. Emulating womenswear designer and Fashion East alumni Marios Schwab, who announced last December he'd be swapping his usual catwalk show for a series of intimate appointments, to explore the label's artisanal roots, Fashion East's rising star Ed Marler will follow on from his dazzling debut with an intimate salon show, as opposed to the usual group one. Also joining him in a one-talent-packed venue at the ICA will be hot new womenswear designers Caitlin Price (Central St Martins MA graduate) and Mary Benson (University of Westminster BA) both of whom will be presenting their autumn/winter collections as a static show.
"The team and our panel all feel strongly that young designers need to showcase their collections in the way that suits them best,'' remarks Fashion East Founder & Director Lulu Kennedy MBE, ''so this season instead of the usual group runway show I'm excited that we're accommodating our two brilliant newcomers with presentations that can really draw guests into their world. We'll also be showing Ed's second collection in an intimate salon show - all under one roof at the incredible ICA, one of my favourite places in London!" With more and more designers turning to innovative and artistic ways to show their collections, will this mean the end of runway shows is nigh? Or will they be around forever? Watch this space.
