wes anderson’s bowie-obsessed sailor is going on tour

Brazilian singer Seu Jorge is reprising his iconic role in 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou' for a string of Bowie tribute shows.

The death of David Bowie earlier this year has prompted beautiful tributes to the late legend by everyone from Lorde and Iggy Pop to 1,000-piece Italian rock group the Rockin'1000. But the one given by Brazilian singer Seu Jorge in Wes Anderson's 2004 comedy-drama The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou remains one of the most memorable. Jorge gained international fame as Bowie-covering sailor Pelé dos Santos in Anderson's movie, the following year releasing his acoustic, Porteguese-language covers as a 15-track cover album of bossa nova-flavored tracks including "Rebel Rebel," "Life on Mars," and "Suffragette City." Now Jorge is taking his songs on tour in honor of the artist who first composed them. According to Billboard, stills from The Life Aquatic will play on screens shaped like sails at the themed Bowie tribute shows. Check out the tour dates below.
