"I loved making i-D covers that could be emotionally graphic and often irreverent. Where the face caught your attention and the words fed the imagination." Terry Jones

We've just launched our covers archive, a complete digital experience allowing you to see 35 years of iconic i-D covers, dating back to 1980. We've also been dying to release our special edition 35th birthday issue cover wraps, designed by 11 of our favorite fashion designers: Karl Lagerfeld, Phoebe Philo, Supreme, Jeremy Scott for Moschino, Christopher Kane, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, J.W. Anderson, Raf Simons for Dior, Alexander Wang for Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood and Palace. Browse the full set in high resolution here, alongside Alasdair McLellan's epic 18 covers for the issue - and every cover we've ever put out into the world. #iD35. #iDcovers. This is a style module worth revising!

The i-D logo is a graphic representation of a smile and a wink - look at it sideways, there you go - interpreted on each cover by the world's most famous faces from Kate Moss to Karl Lagerfeld, Naomi Campbell, Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna and Cara Delevingne.

Printed in 1980, the first cover of i-D was pink, black and landscape with a 50p price tag. In fact, the first 13 issues were landscape, until Sade's iconic portrait cover in 1984. Designed by Terry Jones, who had left his position as art director of British Vogue in 1977 before starting the street style magazine, the early covers of i-D have a special place in people's hearts. Bright, bonkers, irreverent and high risk, they have gone down in history and it's a pleasure to look through them today.

The digital experience you are about to see has been designed and developed by Stinkdigital. Press play and lose your day to 35 years of i-D ;)
