frances bean cobain debuts her singing voice and guitar skills on instagram
Courtney Love enthusiastically endorsed her daughter's Jimmy Eat World cover on behalf of Kurt Cobain.
Frances Bean Cobain has recently made forays into the worlds of modeling, film, and fine art, so surely it was only a matter of time until the 23-year-old progeny of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love had a crack at the creative enterprise that propelled her parents to fame in Nirvana and Hole respectively. Today Frances Bean made her solo musical debut on Instagram with a cover of Jimmy Eat World's 2001 hit "The Middle," off the alt-rock band's fourth studio album Bleed American. The clip she posted might contain only four seconds of singing, but the combination of velvety vocals, perfectly competent guitar playing, and Fred Flintstone sweater make it quite wonderful to watch on repeat. Courtney was particularly excited about the brief clip, regramming it along with a ringing endorsement on behalf of Kurt. "I know your father is very proud of this as am I baby, I love you to the moon and back #proudmommy," she wrote. The track isn't technically Frances Bean's very first recording effort — she was one of 20 voices singing the chorus on a 2010 song by Amanda Palmer's band Evelyn Evelyn. But it's cool to finally be able to make out her voice.
