The events of the past 12 months have been paralyzing for some and mobilizing for others, and it's pretty clear which camp Willow Smith falls into. The precocious 16-year-old has added music producer, indigenous activist, and Chanel ambassador to her already lengthy resume since dropping her impressive debut album Ardipithecus almost exactly a year ago. That sprawling 15-track effort of unironic titles like "dRuGz" and "RANDOMSONG" has since been followed up with a number of mostly stripped-back, guitar-driven slow jams, including the environmental love letter "RTA #2" and the post-election "November 9th" — which she recently performed an acoustic version of at a cocktail event to celebrate Chanel's Métiers d'Art show in Paris.

In the same vein is the no-frills trio of original guitar songs she uploaded to Soundcloud this morning. The three surprise tracks on "Mellifluous" layer lo-fi electric guitar riffs with Willow's signature wailing spiritual musings. "My mind is like a prison, cold circling around me, I travel in all directions only to find myself in the same place still standing," she sings on "I Need to Know." "I want to know, I have to know, how do I reverse this? I want to know, I need to know, how do I transcend this?" Check out the three new tracks below.
