le1f announces debut album inspired by riot grrrl, m.i.a. and missy elliott
NYC rapper will release 'Riot Boi' in November.
Le1f has announced that his eagerly-anticipated debut album, Riot Boi, will be released on Terrible Records on November 13. The NYC rapper "draws inspiration from the Riot Grrrl Movement and artists like M.I.A. and Missy Elliott", a press release explains. Fashion and its biggest black icons also wield a significant influence on the 26-year-old rising star; the album's third track is Grace, Alek or Naomi, a reference to Grace Jones, Alek Wek and Naomi Campbell. Elsewhere, the album features fierce recent single Koi, a guest appearance from Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange on final track Change, and collaborations with super-cool producers SOPHIE (who's worked with Charli XCX, Madonna) and Blood Diamonds (Tinashe, Grimes). Check out the full tracklist below:
Grace, Alek or Naomi
Swirl (feat. Junglepussy & House of LaDosha)
Tell (feat. DonChristian)
Change (feat. Devonte Hynes & Miss Geri)
Le1f will celebrate the album's release with a series of Riot Boi "Party Dates" across North America beginning in New York on October 16, but in the meantime you can check out a brand new track from the album right away. It's called Rage and it's a typically hard-hitting hip-hop banger.
