rodarte brings its magic to & other stories
Calling all fairy queens in the making: this collaboration has your name on it.
They may have just celebrated the 10th anniversary of their label with an incredible fall/winter 16 show, but Laura and Kate Mulleavy show no sign of slowing down. Later this month, Rodarte will be collaborating with minimalist clothing brand & Other Stories, which means a wardrobe fit for a fairy queen will be coming to a store near you.
"& Other Stories designs using storytelling in a similar way that Kate and I do," Laura told Vogue, "It just seemed like such a quick match that there was not really much thought that had to go into wanting to do it. Everyone cares about design at this company, they care about quality, they care about the idea of achieving high fashion within a certain price point, and I found all those things to be really attractive."
Inspired by the dry desert landscapes that make up LA, its jet-black, star spangled night skies, its relaxed way of life, and the cool kids that inhabit it, the collection is a love letter to the Mulleavys' hometown. Think denim jackets lined in mohair, jeweled tights, multi-leather mini skirts, textured surfaces, crushed velvet and utterings of metallic. "We wanted to create a collection that represents the textures of a California lifestyle. The clothes should easily transition from day to night and transform to one's personal style and individuality. For us, it was important to create go-to staples for one's wardrobe: a great jacket, dress, skirt, blouse, sweater, shoes and a set of jewelry that are completely versatile." Perfect for the modern romantic.
