A$AP rocky and zoe kravitz star in new trailer for 'dope'
A star-studded support cast appear in the hip hop heavy high school comedy.
With a big name line-up that includes A$AP Rocky, Zoë Kravitz and Forest Whitaker as well as an original soundtrack by Pharrell, DOPE is the post-hip hip coming-of-age indie film of the summer. The film stars Shameik Moore in his first leading role; the actor is previously known for appearing on Cartoon Network's comedy sketch show Incredible Crew and alongside Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton in his debut film, Joyful Noise. Shameik plays Malcolm, a 90s hip hop nerd and academic hot shot who is balancing his senior year and college applications with the trials of being a teenager in The Bottom, a gangster-filled 'hood in Inglewood, California. Snagging an invite to a huge underground party, Malcolm and his geeky crew, played by Tony Revolori (the bell boy in Grand Budapest Hotel) and Kiersey Clemons, find themselves in a tangle of drugs, guns and, worse, white Coachella casualties. Showing the breadth of their talents, both Moore and Clemons recorded on the soundtrack with executive producer Pharrell, who debuts four new tracks in the film. DOPE is out on June 19.
