what went down at hedi slimane’s saint laurent party in la
A front row featuring Gaga and Zoe Kravitz, with Kiki and Lily McMenamy on the runway, and an after party roster from Beck to Joan Jett.
Hedi Slimane took over the legendary Palladium venue in Los Angeles last night for a blockbuster fashion show slash all-night indie gig, to present the Saint Laurent fall/winter 16 menswear and pre-fall 16 womenswear collections, as well as to celebrate the local music scene that Hedi has documented for a decade on the Hedi Slimane Diary website.
As one of the most hyped shows of the season -- intensified by rumors that these collections may be Hedi's last for Saint Laurent -- the front row was jam packed with famous faces. Lady Gaga cuddled up for photos with Courtney Love and Justin Bieber, who was also snapped with Grace Coddington. The Kravitz fam were out in force with Zoe, Lenny and Lisa Bonet sitting just along from Pamela Anderson and son Dylan Lee, CL, Sky Ferreira, Miguel and Beck.
Under giant moving, flashing light structures and against a palm tree painted backdrop by Lucia Ribisi (daughter of actor Giovanni), some of Hedi's favorite models, including Kiki Willems, Lily McMenamy, Issa Lish, Staz Lindes and Lida Fox marched out to "She's Gone" by PyPy, wearing the glittering, rock and roll staples the designer is known for. Hedi, who often remains backstage, even popped out for a quick, nonchalant head-nod.
After the catwalk show closed, the stage transformed into a gig venue, or perhaps more accurately, a mini festival stage, with Father John Misty kicking off a line-up that included Joan Jett, Beck, Cherry Glazerr, Bleached, Kim and the Created and the Mystic Braves.
