Adrien Caillaudaud and Alexis Martial’s first collection at Carven was a marvel of beautiful cuts and magical colors.

Neat. That was the word that sprang to mind on seeing Adrien Caillaudaud and Alexis Martial's first collection as the new creative directors of womenswear at Carven. If that sounds like a middling compliment, then it's not meant to be: here neat meant beautiful cuts and fits, plus a highly pleasurable level of control on detail, print and color.

It all felt mid-century modern and contemporary at the same time. A-line mini skirts and high-waisted cigarette pants were the dominant silhouette on the leg and up top there were clean crew necks, as well as winged collars that steered clear of fancy dress. Some of the most beautiful elements appeared in the white-lilac color combos, bright jacquard prints and a cornflower blue floral jumper. We're excited what the young duo (who met at fashion school) have in store with their future collections.
