carrie fisher levels with daisy ridley about dating after ‘star wars’
Advice on love, life and sex, from one sci-fi star to another.
Carrie Fisher is a hero. She begins her Interview interview with her 23-year-old Star Wars co-star Daisy Ridley "we finally made it into interview mode, our destiny." Later in the conversation, she makes an impressively bad pun ("Girl gravel! Girl-vel!"), asks Daisy whether she has a crush on Harrison Ford and talks about setting fire to her own wax figure.
Mostly importantly, though, she drops some amazing truth bombs about finding love after becoming the living, breathing incarnation of every sci-fi nerd's fantasy. Apparently, "It's hard to date once you're a big Star Wars star because you don't want to give people the ability to say, 'I had sex with Princess Leia.'"
The actresses also commiserate with one another about being labeled "sex symbols." Ridley mentions she is asked repeatedly how she feels about the title (she insists, "I am not a sex symbol!") and Fisher feels her. She says, "Listen! I am not a sex symbol, so that's an opinion of someone. I don't share that." But she also acknowledges "the fan thing is amazing." Being a famous actress - a blessing and a curse!
