i-D’s excited about new york fashion week
The i-D team shares what they’re hyped about for the shows ahead.
NYFW starts in a blaze of glory tonight with the V Files show and runs through to the 19th, when Calvin Klein Collection will be the final big show to close things. See what team i-D are excited about for the coming shows, from Marc by Marc Jacobs to Astrid Andersen, with a whole lot of Rodarte giddiness too.
"I'm excited to see Coach because I want to wear everything in the men's collection, so I assume my desire will increase for women's. Stuart Vevers is so experienced and I like watching his imagination. I'm also excited for Alexander Wang for the same reason." Sarah Raphael, Acting Editor
"Marc by Marc Jacobs. I'm excited to see the casting and the collection has been going from strength to strength." Ger Tierney, Executive Fashion Editor
"I might be biased but it has to be Astrid. From London to Copenhagen and Tokyo and now to New York, Astrid Andersen is crafting a global movement. Having watched her evolve under London's spotlight, it's exciting to watch her swagger onto a new stage unveiling her new dawn of ready-to-wear." Steve Salter, Head of Socials
"Proenza Schouler still brings that slick downtown cool and the colors always hit the spot for me." Stuart Brumfitt, Digital News Editor
"adidas and Kanye! Not that I'm a massive fan of sneakers, but there's something totally irresistible about Kanye's ego, talent, and self-aggrandizement, and you know Kanye's guaranteed to pull something over-the-top out for the launch." Felix Petty, Content Manager
"Kate and Laura Mulleavy create clothes for the girl for which money is no object and for which public transport is not part of their vocabulary (sadly that's not my life). Their luxe part punk part mermaid look really upped the ante last season so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do this season." Lynette Nylander, Managing Editor
"Adam Selman. Because his clever, pop collections and fun shows always give me energy for the rest of the week." Rory Satran, US Editorial Director
"Rodarte always and forever. Will they send space princesses, Wes Anderson characters or mermaids down the runway? Which part of our face should we pierce next? All will be revealed next Tuesday 17th ♥." Francesca Dunn, Staff Writer
"Marc by Marc Jacobs because Katie and Luella totally bring youth tribes to life. First there were BMX ninjas, then there were polkadot, punk ravers; whatever gang they send down the runway next, I wanna be in it." Felicity Kinsella, Assistant Editor
"Rodarte, because they always come up with some kind of twisted fairy tale collection. Last season it was all about mermaids!" Tish Weinstock, Editorial Assistant
