Sick of the sexist double standards surrounding body hair, women are fighting back by flooding French Twitter with photos of their leg and armpit hair.

The hashtag #LesPrincessesOntDesPoils — or #PrincessesHaveHair — was started by 16-year-old Adèle Labo, who urged other hairy princesses to share their own unapologetic portraits in a show of feminist solidarity. The hashtag quickly jumped to the top of France's trending topics as women all over the country took up the challenge.

"It's cool," wrote one girl alongside a photo of her leg hair and Chuck Taylors. "I'm finally glad to show them," read other tweets. "This is a hashtag to show that hair is not an obstacle to femininity."

Labo, a genderqueer illustrator and photographer, is not new to the global fight against sexist stereotypes — which has caught on everywhere from Texas to China. Last year she shot a video celebrating body hair for the Ramdam festival in Belgium.
