If you're like us, you want to cuddle up with Paola Pivi's pink polar bear sculptures or dive into one of Ryan McGinley's hazy daydreams. Our initial response to artwork is often sensual rather than intellectual. Gut reactions to these furry, squishy and plush pieces are at the heart of Rizzoli's newest release, Feelings: Soft Art. From original photographs by Petra Collins (revealed here exclusively) to sculptures by Claes Oldenburg -- the tome features soft works that span movements, periods, and media.

Titans of contemporary art like John Baldessari share space with emerging talents like Jack Greer of the buzzy collective Still House Group. Feelings also forged some exciting collaborations, including a studio session in which Dev Hynes and painter Alice Lancaster produced three new songs and accompanying artworks. On the other side of the country, sculptor Lynda Benglis joined Raf Simons' favorite collaborator, Sterling Ruby, in conversation at his LA studio.

In addition to these unexpected partnerships and pieces, the scrapbook-cum-diary also includes written emotional responses from a diverse range of viewers as they encounter contemporary art. YouTube sensation Jenna Marbles gets cozy with Yayoi Kusama, actress Emily Ratajkowski shares her fuzzy impressions, pro skateboarder Alex Olson engages with his own painterly side, and rapper Ty Dolla Sign recalls the first time he gazed upon Gerhard Richter's whispy clouds. "When I look up in the sky and I look at the clouds, they look so soft to me," he writes. "I always wish I could just touch one."

Rizzoli is celebrating the launch of Feelings tonight with a signing at The Apartment by the Line at 6:30 pm, followed by an after party at Elvis' Guest House. More information here.
