lily-rose depp to star alongside natalie portman in 1930s drama
Internet sensation and daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose looks set to hit the big time with major new film role.
Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis who has taken social media by storm, is to star in a supernatural drama called Planetarium alongside Natalie Portman. The film, set in 1930s Paris, "follows the journey of sisters who are believed to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts," director Rebecca Zlotowski told Variety, adding that the film will resonate "with the current crisis and rise of extremism in Europe".
This isn't Lily-Rose's first foray into acting - she has had minor roles in two of Johnny Depp's films, Tusk and Yoga Hosers - but it is her first starring role. The details we have on Lily-Rose are pretty sparse. She hasn't given any full interviews, other than telling Oyster magazine that if she could raid one store it would be Opening Ceremony (good choice) and that she's more of a "lol" girl than "haha" on text. This hasn't stopped her becoming a huge internet sensation, as i-D dissected in "lily-rose depp and the creation of a social media it girl", due to her set-to-Public Instagram account and that ever-alluring combination of mystery and amazing bone structure. With the announcement of Planetarium during the Cannes film festival and Yoga Hosers set for release in June, surely it can't be much longer before we hear from Lily-Rose herself.
