jamie xx and oliver sim collaborate on dior homme's spring/summer 16 campaign film
The xx band members caught Kris van Assche’s eye (and ears).
Recently, the xx's bass player and co-vocalist, Oliver Sim, fronted Dior Homme's standout spring/summer 16 campaign. It's now been revealed that Sim and his bandmate, Jamie xx, star in the series' accompanying film, released by creative director Kris van Assche and regular collaborator Willy Vanderperre earlier today. Featuring actor Alain-Fabien Delon, artist Rinus Van de Velde and model Victor Nylander, the film is set to -- and named -- after Jamie's melodic, post-dubstep track, "Stranger in a Room."
Each character plays a version of themselves, embracing "qualities they are known for in their actual lives," as van Assche tells WWD. "We feel [they] embody something of the spirit of Dior Homme today. We wanted to create the idea of a Dior Homme world that has a dialogue with these men."
In the film, the separate lives of artist, actor, model and musician come together to embody the creativity and confidence that van Assche envisions for the modern Dior man. "In the visuals we tried to get across the idea of a collection of contemporary artist's garrets or a present day commune; a combination of the individual and the collective in a sense," van Assche continues. "There is an idea of isolated individuals and then a coming together as well -- individual worlds making one Dior Homme world".
