JoJo has shared the video for her plainly titled track "Music," the latest taste from her forthcoming album MAD LOVE. It will be her first studio album in a decade, after she finally wrestled free from a dodgy record deal that rendered her unable to release any official material for years. The video ushers us into JoJo's new era by taking one final look at her past. It's a tender compilation of home recordings that show the artist performing throughout her childhood — the singer famously signed her first record deal at age 12.

The stripped-back ballad places JoJo's vocals front and center, and reminds us she's more than our favorite singer from sixth grade; she's really got pipes. In a statement, the singer talked about the title of the song, explaining, "For me, everything starts with music. It's been the most comforting and consistent thing in my life." Here's to that.
