Now a regular feature of NYFW, the VFILES' fashion show is a launchpad for new talent. Previous designers who've won the chance to show include Gypsy Sport, ASSK and Sam MC, and this year the honour falls on XimonLee, DI$COUNT UNIVERSE, Andrea Jiapei Li and Julia Seemann.

Each submission was judged on its vision, relevance and saleability by mentors including celebrity stylist & fashion director of 032C, Mel Ottenberg; former VOGUE editor & brand consultant, Candy Pratts Price; world-renowned makeup artist James Kaliardos; design director of Calvin Klein menswear, Italo Zucchelli; Editor-in-Chief of Style.com, Dirk Standen.

Since it was set up in 2012, the on and offline platform has been a catalyst for the careers of young, vibrant fashion talent. Here's their breakdown of the four winners who'll be going on show.

"XIMONLEE is a New York-based menswear label that draws this season's inspiration from the street scene of post-soviet Russia, merging high fashion with a brutalist sense of shape."

"DI$COUNT UNIVER$E is the colourful line you always hoped to see on New York's runways — founded by Australian designers Cami James and Nadia Napreychikov, the brand puts the POP back in fashion."

"New York's ANDREA JIAPEI LI specialises in unique silhouettes and creative fabric techniques."

"Zurich-based designer JULIA SEEMANN's aesthetic combines reduced geometric forms with simple fabrics and materials, aiming to create feminine looks with and edgy twist."
