The Queen of Christmas is extending her reign to Valentine's Day. Mariah Carey, star and director of the December 2015 masterpiece A Christmas Melody, has officially rekindled her romance with the Hallmark Network in order to bless us with three new movies over the next two years. Carey will develop, executive produce, direct, and star in all of them, reports Deadline, with the first set to premiere during Hallmark's 2017 Countdown to Valentine's Day programming event. She'll even write and produce an original song for each film.
Hallmark parent Crown Media Family Networks said it was "honored" to work with the multi-talented Mariah. "It's rare to work with a talent who can produce, direct, star and also compose original music for a project, and we know she will deliver for our viewers once again," said Michelle Vicary, EVP Programming. A Christmas Melody was watched by an audience of 3.9 million, while the same month's Mariah Carey's Merriest Christmas spectacular was the season's most-watched holiday special. Meanwhile, Carey is continuing her TV takeover with the E! documentary series, Mariah's World. Her other memorable on-screen moments include the dazzling 2001 box office bomb Glitter and the most epic episode of MTV Cribs ever to air. Whatever these three new movies will be, they definitely won't be boring.
