First came his explosive single The Blacker The Berry, then it was the pre-release of his anti-establishment album artwork; now Kendrick Lamar has gone and given everyone another surprise by releasing his album To Pimp A Butterfly a week early. The 16-track album has numerous notable features, including big dawg Snoop Dogg, much-missed soul singer Bilal and funk legend George Clinton, as well as newer-comers Anna Wise, Rapsody and Thundercat. Whilst it's lyrically hard, taking on racism and other big societal issues, sonically it's a chilled Cali-funk affair, all woozy sunshine production from the likes of Flying Lotus, Terrace Martin and Sounwave.
