prince is writing his first ever memoir
The book will include everything from his earliest memory to his 2007 Super Bowl performance.
Grab your raspberry beret and start up your little red Corvette, because Prince's first ever memoir will soon be coming to a bookstore near you. Spanning from his earliest memory to his 2007 Super Bowl performance, the book, titled The Beautiful Ones, will chronicle the unconventional life and work of one of pop's most revered icons.
Speaking at an event in New York City on Friday night, the 57-year-old singer from Minneapolis described how he was made "an offer [he] can't refuse." "This is my first (book)," he said, "My brother Dan [Piepenbring of the Paris Review] is helping me with it. He's a good critic and that's what I need. He's not a 'yes' man at all and he's really helping me get through this."
Chris Jackson of publisher Spiegel & Grau says, "Prince is a towering figure in global culture and his music has been the soundtrack for untold numbers of people -- including me -- for more than a generation; his creative genius has provided the musical landscape of our lives. Millions of words have been written about Prince -- books and articles, essays and criticism -- but we're thrilled to be publishing Prince's powerful reflections on his own life in his own incandescently vivid, witty, and poetic voice."
