lana del rey debuts a brighter direction with ‘high by the beach’
The singer teased the second single from Honeymoon on Instagram.
Last month, Lana Del Rey released the title track off her forthcoming LP Honeymoon, which is slated to arrive in September. Earlier this morning, the singer took to @honeymoon -- the Instagram account documenting the album's progress through studio selfies and sailboat snaps -- to announce a brand new single, High by the Beach.
Del Rey's Instagram post stated the new summer anthem will drop on August 10. This date was accompanied by nautically nostalgic album art, which depicts Lana in a billowing silk situation facing the sun. It's something of a departure from the singer's previously dark aesthetic, which has served as ample inspiration for online movements of sad girls and Tumblr goths.
Will High by the Beach mark a sun soaked end to the Lana we know? Maybe James Franco's forthcoming book, Flip-Side: Real And Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey, will have some answers.
