The single page, expected to fetch up to $70,000, is the only set of Bowie's complete handwritten lyrics to ever have come to auction.

One very lucky and very rich Bowie fan is about to get one sick addition to their merch archive. A new auction listed on Paddle8 features a single leaf from a faintly lined notepad, containing the complete lyrics from the Starman's 1972 hit "The Jean Genie." Described by the late legend as "a smorgasbord of imagined Americana," what became the lead single of 1973's Aladdin Sane is widely believed to be based on Iggy Pop (with a title inspired by French vagabond-turned-author Jean Genet.) "The Jean Genie" remains one of Bowie's biggest hits to date.

Experts anticipate the page will fetch between $50,000 and $70,000 when it goes under the hammer on March 31. And don't expect more such memorabilia to come along any time soon — as the sale points out, Bowie had the foresight to keep all his notes and lyrics for his own Beyoncé-style personal archive. With that in mind, this seems quite the bargain.
