karlie kloss is shedding her victoria’s secret wings
Her fellow angels will shed a tear this year as Karlie Kloss leaves the dreamy lingerie brand behind to focus on school.
Nicknamed "the panther" because of her sultry feline strut, Miss Kloss was blessed with both brains and beauty. The 6"1 inch stunner joined the flock of Victoria's Secret Angels at the tender age of 18, in 2011, and was the first model ever to have been given her wings straight away. She's been an infectious force over the four years that she's appeared at the world's most elusive fantasy ball, (especially the last two years when she walked hand in hand with BFF Taylor Swift who was performing at the show, and with whom she is currently appearing alongside on the cover of US Vogue), but her contract officially comes to an end this year and the 22-year-old has decided to clip her wings.
You might not have thought it but the face of Chanel's Coco Noir, L'Oreal Paris ambassador, creator of Karlie's Kookies, supermodel and fallen Victoria's Secret Angel is also a coding enthusiast. The brainiac will be starting classes at NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study this fall, with a reference letter from a previous era's supermodel and NYU alum Christy Turlington.
"Karlie and I met several months ago to discuss the many things she hoped to do in her life and career," Victoria's Secret's senior creative Ed Razek told US Weekly. "As we talked, it became clear that she would not have the time to fulfill her myriad commitments. Reluctantly, we agreed she would leave the brand at the end of her contract." One of those myriad commitments is also probably spending more quality time with her investment mogul boyfriend, 29-year-old Joshua Kushner, a match made in heaven at a Victoria's Secret party in 2012!
Although our favorite leggy beauty and previous i-D cover star won't be joining Tay Tay at the Pink Ball again any time soon, don't worry Karlie fans, she's still going to be slinking down the runways full time, "I'm incredibly ambitious and have lots of goals within my career that I'm not slowing down anytime soon," she confirmed in her interview with Vogue.
