We've been hooked on Brooklyn-based three piece Sunflower Bean's neo-psychedelic vibes ever since we sipped home brewed Dunkin Donuts with the band's bassist and Saint Laurent's current campaign star, Julia Cumming, in her Bushwick loft last summer. Since then, Sunflower Bean has been all over the map: strutting the Saint Laurent runway in Paris and jamming out at Hedi Slimane's Grammy party in LA. But now the crew is back on their home turf; earlier today, Julia broke the news on Instagram that Sunflower Bean are slated to play a secret (well, not anymore) show with fellow Brooklynites DIIV next Tuesday at Baby's All Right.
Headed up by Sky Ferreira's boo thang Zachary Cole Smith, DIIV made serious waves back in 2012 with the release of its outstanding debut record, Oshin. Last year, the group embarked on a series of small club shows to test out new material they'd been working on, although no follow-up album details have been announced. Julia's Insta caption confirmed this turn at Baby's will also see some new DIIV material, and, fingers crossed, the promise of a sophomore release soon. Regardless, it's great to see two of Brooklyn's brightest young bands join forces in a big way.
