anna wintour will present marc jacobs with parsons award
The NYC fashion school is giving its most famous alumnus a prize for his contribution to fashion design.
Three decades after Marc Jacobs took home the Designer of the Year graduating student prize at Parsons, the designer will return to his alma mater to receive another award. Jacobs is being honored for his contribution to fashion design at the Parsons Fashion Benefit alongside LVMH, the fashion behemoth that owns the Marc Jacobs brand and Louis Vuitton, where Jacobs was creative director from 1997 to 2013.
Jacobs' award will be presented by Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, a friend of the designer, at a glamorous ceremony at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York on 19 May. The event will also feature a keynote speech from fashion journalist Vanessa Friedman, as well as a catwalk show by this year's graduating students and the announcement of the prestigious Designer of the Year prize 2015.
