peek into the wonderful world of alexander mcqueen's earliest shows

Marking the fifth anniversary since the death of Lee Alexander McQueen, West London’s Proud Galleries is playing host to a never before seen collection of backstage and private images of the designer taken by Gary Wallis.

Having met as students at Central Saint Martins, McQueen asked Wallis to photograph his MA graduate collection, Jack The Ripper Stalks His Victims, and he agreed. It just so happened that Isabella Blow was in attendance and loved the show so much that she bought his entire collection, championing his work and forming a firm friendship with the designer. Continuing to document a whole three years of shows as well as personal portraits of Lee and Isabella, Gary's work captures the exciting early stages of a legendary career and has been kept private until now. Opening today, the stunning collection is available to view exclusively at Proud Galleries ahead of the release of a book of the same name. Take a look behind the scenes.
