Yesterday, for one night only, Beats by Dre. Dre and Apple Music brought us Anderson .Paak and his band The Free Nationals for a free gig at the O2 Academy in Brixton. The place was packed and very excited fans soon discovered that Dre wasn’t just there presenting his Aftermath-signed protege, but joining him on stage for a rare performance not seen since the same thing happened at Coachella last year. "You know I had to bring the big homie out…” Anderson revealed during his set, “make some noise for Dr. Dre!"

The hip-hop legend, and founder of both NWA and Beats, joined Anderson to deliver two of his biggest tracks, The Next Episode and Still D.R.E, as though it was a completely casual thing to do. It was in no way casual. “This man here is destined to be a superstar!” Dre proclaimed. His support of the fellow LA musician follows similar moves with both Eminem and Snoop decades before, both of whom he has regularly collaborated with throughout their careers. He and Anderson are reportedly working on the latter’s third album, due later this year. Until then, Anderson (Andy to his mates/Twitter followers) is basking in the madness. "We used to dream of nights like this," he tweeted, “still can’t get over last night.”
