Fashion don Giorgio Armani has opened an exciting new exhibition during Milan Fashion Week, dedicated to celebrating the achievements of men and women in sport and their longstanding tradition of entertaining the rest of us.
Comprising a vibrant selection of photographs from a wealth of images Armani has personally commissioned over the years -- dating right back to 1985 -- Emotions of the Athletic Body is as much a testament to the designer's personal interest in photography as it is to his passion for sports. Indeed, not only did he handpick each image, he personally conceived the design of the exhibition, from the red running tracks on the gallery floor to giant slabs of concrete upon which the images are printed, so that it would reflect the gallery space and subject matter.
"Sport has always been one of my passions," Armani says. "I believe it represents the qualities that improve us as people: dedication, sacrifice, perseverance and willpower. It is beneficial for the body and spirit alike, as it shows that there is no success without dedication."
In addition to photography, video installations of previously unseen footage will also be on show, while the exhibition itself will serve as the backdrop to the fourth Armani/Silos Film Series, airing in October.
