Drag stars, colourful club kids, striking East End misfits and everyone in between -- nowhere was the spectrum of Pride in London represented better than at Turbo artist ABSOLUTE.'s Wut? Club's party this weekend. An inclusive celebration of London's beautiful weirdos, Wut? Club held a special party on the Saturday night after the Pride parade. i-D and photographer Lily Vetch caught up with the revellers, to discuss empowerment, queer icons, identity and what pride means to them.

Christopher Morris Mills

Christopher Morris Mills, 22, Cambridge, visual merchandiser

What do you identify as? Male and GAY! What does Pride mean to you? Loving yourself and others. How many times have you attended London Pride before? Twice. Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? Yes, always! Who do you consider to be a queer icon in 2018? Aquaria! A beacon of our generation. What song makes you feel most empowered? Burn Rubber, Aquaria.

What do you identify as? A gay dude. What does Pride mean to you? Freedom to live your most authentic life. How many times have you attended London Pride before? Every year since I was 15. Who do you consider to be a queer icon in 2018? Casey Spooner from Fischerspooner truly represents queers culture in music. What song makes you feel most empowered? Immaterial, SOPHIE.

Audrey Hipturn, 30, Canada, model/burlesque performer/computer programmer

What do you identify as? Queer. What does Pride mean to you? It means I can go out in public dressed as I choose and hold my girlfriend’s hand without feeling nervous of judgement. How many times have you attended London Pride before? Twice. Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? Mostly. Who do you consider to be a queer icon in 2018? Janelle Monáe. What song makes you feel most empowered? Glass & Patron, FKA Twigs.

Tom Lund

Tom Lund, 22, Brighton, graduate

What do you identify as? QUEER. What does Pride mean to you? Getting drunk with my sisters while corporations exploit us for advertising purposes. How many times have you attended London Pride before? This is my first time in London, and damn it’s sweaty! Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? No. I feel like Pride isn’t inclusive at all anymore, it’s an excuse for straight people to take pictures with me to excuse the fact that they’re homophobic the rest of the year. Who do you consider to be a queer icon in 2018? SOPHIE. What song makes you feel most empowered? Sweet, Brockhampton.

What do you identify as? Slutty. What does Pride mean to you? An expression of freedom. How many times have you attended London Pride before? Twice. Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? Sometimes, depends on what party you go to. What song makes you feel most empowered? Jerk It, Thunderheist.

What do you identify as? Too queen to be true. What does Pride mean to you? Everybody feels the same, included. How many times have you attended London Pride before? This is my second one actually. I love it! It’s better than the Italian one. Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? Yes. Who do you consider to be a queer icon in 2018? Lady Gaga. She’s everything. I take inspiration from her for my make-up and costumes. What song makes you feel most empowered? Every album by Die Antwoord.

What do you identify as? Queer. What does Pride mean to you? Being who you are unapologetically. How many times have you attended London Pride before? Three times. Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? Sometimes, but a lot of work needs to be done to include women and POC. Who do you consider to be a queer icon in 2018? Charli XCX is always creating a safe, accepting space in her concerts and music. What song makes you feel most empowered? Break Free, Ariana Grande.

What do you identify as? Cisgender hetero female ally. What does Pride mean to you? To me, Pride means celebrating all of my friends and family who do not tick the typical binary ‘gender and sexual orientation’ boxes. How many times have you attended London Pride before? My first time, and definitely not my last! Does it feel like an entirely inclusive space? It feels very liberating -- everyone is very accepting which allows lots of freedom of expression.
