The Unpretty singers were the definitive sound of 90s R&B, inspiring the likes of Missy Elliot, the Neptunes and Timbaland, and the kids of that decade were left with a hole in their hearts and their CD racks when Lisa Lopes died, aged 30, just after the release of their last album 3D . Winning five Grammy awards, selling 65 million records worldwide and scoring four number 1's, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas are reigning in the roaring 90s for their final album through Kickstarter. "While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don't often give artists complete control of their own music," they explain for deciding to crowdfund their fifth album. "It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU."

Prizes range from a digital TLC scrapbook to a voicemail recorded on your phone by the duo themselves, to a sleepover with either T-Boz or Chilli. "Our final album will stay true to the TLC sound, always confronting the real issues and life experiences that we all must face every single day, everywhere. We write music that people relate to... timeless music. No matter the trends, we feel like our music is always relevant," they say on their Kickstarter page. "You'll always have a guy hanging out the passenger side! And sometimes you'll feel damn unpretty!

We will continue to make music for EVERYONE, music that's UNIVERSAL, TOUCHABLE."

Long live TLC.
