virgil abloh’s off-white and ssense collaborate on a new film
Kanye’s creative director drops a Pierre Debusschere-shot fashion film.

Creative polymath Virgil Abloh has just released a dreamy fashion film to launch a capsule collection that is a collaboration between his label Off-White, online retailer SSENSE and fashion photographer Pierre Debusschere.
Kanye's creative director, international DJ and the designer of two other fashion labels, Been Trill and Pyrex, Abloh had been keen to work with Debusschere for a while. "I'm such a fan of Pierre's work," he said in an interview for SSENSE, "I had been admiring of his aesthetic for a long time." Rather than make the collection and then shoot it straight, he says working with Debusschere actually fed into the clothing design: "The clothing was created at a 50% capacity, and only after we did the film would the 100% identity of the clothing be finished."
In the film, a mixed-gender crew wear head-to-toe white; unisex trousers, hoodies, jackets and ripped T-shirts featuring black diagonal stripe panels and the word WHITE. Pacing and skating around an ornate old stone building, they jump on mattresses covered in colored pigment and throw it over each other, transforming their clothes with kaleidoscopic color. The collection that is available to buy has these colors added permanently using dyes.
