explore the complex beauty of yohji yamamoto
Live Archives in Hackney will host an intriguing exhibition of Yohji Yamamoto's fashion creations where models rather than mannequins will display the garments and you, the viewer, can choose a selection for them to wear.
The interactive installation has been curated by exhibition-maker Jeff Horsley and features over 60 pieces by Yamamoto, dating as far back as 83. The Japanese fashion legend is known for creating garments that can be worn in numerous ways, and the exhibition's couture salon format will allow visitors to experience the incredible complexity of his designs at close range.
You can play high-concept fashion dress up with a selection of iconic pieces, including a cotton cut-work look from Yamamoto's spring/summer 83 collection, a shibori-detail kimono from spring/summer 95 and a Madame Grès-inspired blouse from spring/summer 05.
Yohji Yamamoto: Showspace runs from July-8 August 2015 at Live Archives, London.
