Update: It seemed to good to be true after all, as it looks like Frank's Tumblr might have been hacked.

“HERE FOR THE BEANS”, wrote Frank Ocean just now on Tumblr, alongside the words “..SOLANA + KL + ANDRE”, under the heading “MARCH 1ST”. Chaos among the Frank Ocean stans of Reddit and Instagram, naturally, ensued. The question: does this mean there’s a collaboration between himself, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and Andre 3000 coming in less than a month?

Given how little music the four of them have released recently, not to mention how unprecedented it is to get four artists so accomplished in their respective fields together on one track, perhaps this could seem a little too ambitious. Yet there is reasonable evidence to support the lofty dream. Frank and Andre 3000 have previously collaborated, on Blonde track Solo, and Channel Orange track Pink Matter. Frank also recently previewed a snippet from a cover of SZA’s The Weekend on Instagram. The venn diagram of Frank and Kendrick has the least crossover, yet Kendrick and SZA have long been label-mates and collaborators. Could this be 2019’s alternative R&B meets era-defining hip-hop equivalent to 2001 smash, Lady Marmalade?

In a separate post, Frank wrote “? (2019) ? (2019) ? (2020)”. The meaning behind this is even less clear. The optimist in us says, three albums in the next year. The realist in us says, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
