London is a jigsaw of cultures, histories and identities. A patchwork where each piece is entirely different to those it surrounds. Where a bustling sub-culture can be entirely situated on one small street. As a result, the city is the perfect place to find yourself, your community and expression, while crafting the legacy you want to leave on this planet. This exploration away from the grind of work life is the same vision held by Reebok’s Legacy Collection; with two of their 80s trainers now reimagined to facilitate relaxation and rejuvenation within the lifestyles of a new generation of busy city-dwellers.

To explore how the adaptable trainers work across the myriad of the city’s styles, eight Londoners were photographed by Max Cornwall in fits they put together to pair with Reebok’s Club C Legacy and Classic Leather Legacy AZ trainers. Looks that represent them, their interests and their unique style-identities that have been moulded by the city’s streets they call home.

Ralph wears acid washed brown straight leg trousers with a wavy striped grey t-shirt and white reebok trainers. They stand against a grey wall on the pavement.

How would you describe the street style of Dagenham?

Fun, free-spirited and creative.

How do you like to relax and recharge in the city?

Going to life drawing classes or finding a nice area to sit and draw with a friend.

Mariam, 21

Model in East London.

How would you describe the street style of East London?

Experimental, risk-taking, and innovative.

How do you like to relax and recharge in the city?

I’m a sucker for sunsets! You’ll also find me in a park or cemetery meditating.

What inspires you about London?

The freedom to discover and express your identity, fashion and creative interests.

Makito does a handstand in a park. They wear white reeboks with black socks, black straight leg trousers, a white tee and a blue and red fair lisle print vest.

Model in East London.

What inspires you about London?

The people.

With their Legacy Collection, Reebok wants to encourage the next generation to challenge the status quo. What do you want your legacy to be?

I want to achieve something new that I haven’t even started yet.

Tyrus stands in front of a white wall. They wear white reeboks with white socks, knee length utility shorts, a belt, and a grey vest.

Actor, musician, dancer and creative in Newham, East London.

How do you like to relax and recharge in the city?

I create and listen to music daily. I also play football in local parks where I can just unwind.

Do you remember the first Reebok item you ever owned?

In Primary School I had a pair of white Reebok Workouts with the ice blue sole. You couldn’t take them off my feet!

What do you want your legacy to be?

That I’m still creating timeless work that will inspire other creatives globally for generations.

Desi stands with their back to the camera in a car park. They wear white reeboks with blue detailing, patchwork blue trousers and a grey knitted vest.

Desi, 21

Photographer in St John’s Wood, London.

Why did you choose this outfit to pair with the Classic Leather Legacy AZ trainer?

It’s comfortable but I also love the cut of the arms. They add a little sexiness.

Do you remember the first Reebok item you ever owned?

My first Reeboks were completely pink and I was obsessed with them!

Isabelle stands on cobble stones in front of a white wall outside. They wear white reeboks with blue laces, sand coloured baggy trousers and a white oversized long sleeve shirt with lots of rings and a chunky necklace.

Isabelle, 21

Model in Elephant and Castle, London.

Why did you choose this outfit to pair with the Reebok Club C Legacy trainer?

These are two of my favourite items to wear and because the outfit is quite oversized, there’s enough going on to connect perfectly with the shoes.

The original Reebok Club C trainer is 36 years old, what dream do you want to have achieved in 36 years time?

I will be living in Italy with my own vineyard and sit there all day drinking good wine and eating beautiful food.

Laurie stands on the pavement next to windows. They wear white reeboks with blue detailing. Back trousers and a white t-shirt.

Laurie, 19

Student in Camden, London.

How would you describe the street style of Camden?

Unique, grungy and contemporary.

How do you like to relax and recharge in the city?

Walking through the streets without a destination.

Betty sits on a black leather sofa in front of a grey wall. They have grey reeboks with no socks, light blue straight fit jeans, a cropped white vest with a gold statement necklace, beaded belt around her abdomen and lots of beaded bracelets and rings.

Betty, 19

Artist and roller-skater in West London.

What inspires you about London?

The contagious and addictive energy. The grime and underground scenes are like nowhere else.

What do you want your legacy to be?

To have my own gallery for Black British and diasporic art.
