Are A24 launching their own beauty brand?

Here’s everything we know so far about Rules Beauty. (And they’re hiring!)

After dominating in film and TV over the past few years with juggernaut successes like Euphoria, Midsommar, Moonlight and Hereditary, it now seems that production company du jour A24 are moving into the beauty industry, after some mysterious posts have surfaced on social media. And they’re hiring! 

Rules Beauty, “a new A24 portfolio company focusing on the beauty space”, has already got us excited, especially because of the company’s name, which some fans have speculated is a nod to Euphoria lead characters Rue and Jules. If so, it could be that Rules Beauty might take aesthetic inspiration from the hedonistic hit show, in which makeup artist Doniella Davy uses heavy, glitter, Y2K inspired beauty looks to communicate characterisation, inner pain and hidden meaning. 

That’s speculation of course (we’re excited, sue us!). In reality, we don’t know a lot just yet about Rules Beauty. What we do know has been gleaned from a job posting by A24, seeking a Director of Operations and Supply Chain for the beauty venture. What that slightly long-winded job title means is that the production company are looking for someone to lead and manage all operational activities for Rules Beauty, as well as building strategy and overseeing day-to-day execution. Essentially, to be one of the big bosses. 

“This is a unique startup opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual to work closely with the brand’s General Manager to build our team, processes and best practices from the ground up,” the mysterious Greenhouse listing continues. 

This wouldn’t be the first time that A24 expanded their cinematic universe for the hungry fans. As well as producing some of the biggest TV and film hits of the past few years, the production company recently released two Euphoria-themed books, as well as dropping the special edition scripts for Midsommar and Hereditary. Last year, they also auctioned off some of their most iconic costumes for COVID-19 relief, including Florence Pugh’s sinister floral headdress (obviously).
