LVMH announces its eight finalists for the second year of their prize.
Arthur Arbesser, Coperni, Craig Green, Faustine Steinmetz, Jacquemus, Marques' Almeida, Off-White, and Vetements are the eight designers who have just been shortlisted from 26 as finalists for the 2015 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. Shortlisted last year, but not quite making it as finalists, could this be a year for London-based designers Craig Green and Marques Almeida? Will second-time finalist Jacquemus pip them to the post? Or will it be the only other menswear designer Virgil Abloh? You'll have to wait until to May 22nd, when the winner will be selected by some of the most important creative directors in the world from J. W. Anderson to Riccardo Tisci, as well as LVMH alumni. "The designers who have entered the LVMH Prize 2015 have truly surprised and impressed us with their diversity, their ideas and enthusiasm,'' says LVMH director Delphine Arnault. ''Although very young, they're all extremely talented. I wish them luck. It will be a hard task for our Jury to choose one of them. The level of the competition is so high, I have no doubt we will see some of the semi-finalists again in the years to come."
In other news, the Graduates' Prize, which sees three uni graduates awarded the chance to join the design team at an LVMH brand for one year, will remain open until May 3rd. Good luck!
