how to stream the david bowie tribute concert, featuring blondie and pixies
The tribute spectacular's lineup now includes Cat Power, Pixies, Patti Smith, Blondie, The Flaming Lips, and Anna Calvi.
The Music of David Bowie tribute shows in New York City this week were planned out long before Bowie unexpectedly passed away from cancer earlier this year. But since then they've taken on an emotional cogency that organizer Michael Dorf could never have predicted. They've also gained a massively next-level lineup as more and more artists add their names to the list of those honoring the late legend by performing his music.
The latest artists confirmed for either one or both of the concerts include Michael Stipe, Pixies, Cat Power, Blondie, Mumford & Sons, Amanda Palmer, Jherek Bischoff, Anna Calvi, Nancy Wilson (joining her sister Ann), the Donny McCaslin Group (featuring Mark Guiliana, Jason Lindner, and Tony Visconti), Patti Smith, J Mascis, Esperanza Spalding, TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone, The Flaming Lips, Gogol Bordello's Eugene Hutz, Bilal, Tariq, and Kronos Quartet, reports Pitchfork. They'll join the previously announced Roots, Laurie Anderson, the Mountain Goats, Bette Midler, Perry Farrell, and others.
Unsurprisingly, the two performances on March 31 at Carnegie Hall and April 1 at Radio City Music Hall are already sold out. But it's just been announced that the show at Radio City Music Hall will be available to stream for a small donation to a non-profit.
