Rumours started to spread this week, after posters with The Stone Roses iconic lemon logo were plastered over billboards and record shop windows in their hometown of Manchester. Only today were the rumours confirmed true, with a tweet from the band revealing "THE STONE ROSES WILL RELEASE A NEW SINGLE TONIGHT AT 8PM". No further information has been given. Although the band briefly reformed to perform a series of shows in 2012, it's been more than 20 years since their last album, Second Coming, which was released in 1994.

The four-piece also have gigs lined up for this summer to coincide with the release including four headline shows at Manchester's Etihad Stadium as well as shows in Dublin, New York, Japan and a headline slot at T In The Park.
