Last year Soft Centre held its inaugural event and shook up the crowded Australian festival scene with its original approach to the festival experience. With a mix of radical performance art, site specific light installations, one-off collaborations and electronic music, the festival delivered a multi-sensory affair. It was so successful that it was named ‘Music Event of the Year’ at FBi Radio’s SMAC Awards after just one run. Needless to say when the festival announced that it would be returning in 2018 with a killer lineup we were paying attention.

This year Soft Centre will return to the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre for its second offering. First round artists announced include musicians like μ-Ziq, Meuko ! Meuko !, Elena Colombi, Fabrics (live), friendships (live) and Slim Set to name a few. When it comes to art the festival will feature works from Ella Barclay, Brian Fuata, Kusum Normoyle, House of Vnholy and Mikaela Stafford. There’s also one-off collaborations from Arafura x Onyx, DJ Gemma x Justine Youssef & Leila El Rayes and Tristan Jalleh x MANA.

2018 will also see Soft Centre expand to five spaces, including an outdoor stage dedicated to young producers and DJs from the Greater Western Sydney region, paying respect to the area that hosts the festival.

Head over to the Soft Centre Facebook page and check out their video for the full first line-up announcement and see some highlights from last year’s event.

Soft Centre is held at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on September 22.
