Chanel's most recent celebration of the master craftsmen behind their garments was last year's spectacular Paris Cosmopolite 2016/17 Métiers d'Art show. Set in a space evoking the spirit of the Place Vendôme, Karl Lagerfeld drew on the idea of early café society as models and Chanel-girls including Lily-Rose Depp, Alice Dellal and Sophia Richie showcased the icon-heavy collection as they sashayed past audience-members seated around fine-dining tables.

Now, Chanel have brought this collection to Australia for a temporary installation at the Marais boutique in Melbourne. With the store transformed into a lush, navy and electric blue Ritz Parisian wonderland, the space is filled with sparkling variations on classic bags, jewellery and Chanel jackets; customised to perfection with sequins, pearls, feathers, crystals, leather flowers and jewelled buttons.

With a launch last night featuring a surprise set by The Preatures, this pop up is the first time Chanel has shown a collection beyond the walls of one of its own stores in Australia. The installation will be open until July 9th for anyone keen to see the couture up close. In the meantime, watch Vittoria Ceretti and Natalie Westling embody the collection in a video shot in the halls of the venue that inspired it all.
