premiere: jaide, 'home'
The mysterious London based singer/songwriter was brought up on healthy helpings of soul and reggae in a household bumping the likes of Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, and Maxwell. Her sound and songwriting speak from the heart; her lyrical content reflects deeply on personal relationships. Coupled with simple stripped back production, "Home" caught our ear instantly.
"How a certain beat makes me feel inspires me to write and triggers something that has happened in my life." Jaide explains. "I can be blunt in the way I say things and I reflect that in my songwriting, but I'm human and have a vulnerable side, which is why I wrote 'Home.' It's about continuous mishaps in past relationships, not being able to find the right person I can feel safe and stable with. Specifically about one I had high hopes for and put myself on the line to make things work out, just to be let down again."
Working with fellow illusive producer Joe Hertz among others, we are excited to hear more from her in the near future. Press play on the sound of "Home."
