Everyone rejoice! It looks like we have our first whiff of Kendrick Lamar's hotly anticipated fourth album, the follow-up to his moment-defining 2015 record To Pimp a Butterfly. As of this morning, K Dot has deleted his entire Instagram archive, leaving just one image remaining: a black square with 'IV,' the Roman numeral for four, centered in white. There is no accompanying caption, but really, what else could it mean? That he's just mega excited for April, the fourth month? AND WHY MIGHT THAT BE! Please let it be so. I think we could all do with a guaranteed-fire new album to see off the last of the winter blues, and to sustain us in the ongoing fight for black people's rights and lives, Muslim's rights, women's rights, LGBT rights, everyone's rights... #WeGonBeAlright.
