Finally, some Good News courtesy of Megan Thee Stallion
Meg’s new album and the best of New Music Friday in our weekly playlist.
Still from 'Body'
Ok, so this week our playlist is reeaalllly long. Who gave the entire music industry permission to release their albums, singles and remixes all at once? Not that we’re complaining. It’s nice to have something to take your mind off the, you know… state of the world. We'll open proceedings today with “Freaky Girls (ft. SZA)” from Megan Thee Stallion's new album Good News. It's sexy and fun and everything we're not right now. In the video for "Body" our hot girl struts down an elaborate runway in a leather harness, a diamond chest piece and the highest heels we've ever seen. Surrounded by her friends and dancers -- including Jordyn Woods, Blac Chyna, Maliibu Miitch and Asian Doll -- she celebrates female beauty in all its myriad forms.
Your girl Shygirl put her new EP ALIAS out today too. On the seven-track project, the NUXXE artist explores her ‘aliases’ Baddie, Bae, Bovine and Bonk (great names), who, it seems, are based on the artist’s traits but pushed to the extreme. With production from SOPHIE, Kai Whiston, Sega Bodega and Oscar Scheller, it’s a playful collection of original party tunes that’ll make you crave the club.
Also on the playlist this week is “Aquí Yo Mando” from Kali Uchis’ first Spanish language album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), which came out this week and is very good. Then there’s girl in red, queering up Christmas with “two queens in a king sized bed”, and James Blake covering Roberta Flack’s “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face”. Prolific makers of psych-rock albums, Australia’s King Gizzard, have done it again with the release of K.G; BTS, of course, put out their new record BE; and brilliant M.T. Hadley shared his string-laden new EP, There Isn’t a Window That I Won’t Look Out Of.
