He already counts Diplo and The Prodigy as fans, and now South African electronic producer Muzi can add i-D to his growing list of admirers. His debut release, Nizogcwala was joyfully scatted with rabble-rousing rap influences, deeper than deep house and and strikingly potent Zulu vocals. With an ear quite clearly keenly attuned to seeking out joyfully juxtaposed sounds, when Muzi suggested he make us a mix, we immediately took him up on his kind offer. "I had to pull out all the stops on this one so thought it would be super cool to drop some Muzi exclusives on an i-D exclusive mix and play some of my favourite tracks from my favourite producers," says Muzi live and direct from KwaZulu Natal. "Hope y'all like it." We love it, and you will too. Press play on this rambunctious 60 minutes of fire created by everyone from Flux Pavilion to Flosstradamus, Lazy Boyz to Boyz Noise, and then download the five original Muzi tracks featured on the mix from right here.

Who is Muzi?
Muzi, real name Muzi Mazibuko, is a 24 year-old music producer/ DJ/ creator from Empangeni, KZN in South Africa.

Why is Muzi?
I am because my parents hooked up… just kidding! I don't know why I make music, all I know is the initial bug caught me when I was 11 and then the producer bug caught me at 13. Soon after, I started using it as a means of getting away from my harsh realities at the time. It became therapeutic and it still is.

How is Muzi?
It's all honest expression. It's muzik. I never sit and consciously think about what I am making, it all comes to me and starts playing in my head, then I get this 'urge' to go sit in front of my computer and make it. So I can't really say what genre it is. It is, however, electronica so at least we have that bit down! The day I'm able to describe this perfectly, word for word, is the day my art and my honest expression will die.

When is Muzi?
Always working on new music. I'm really excited about releasing new stuff.
