Young Thug sat down for an interview with Billboard recently to talk disregarding gender norms when he gets dressed. "When it comes to swag there's no gender involved," he told the magazine, explaining he's always felt that way. "When I was 12, my feet were so small I wore my sisters' glitter shoes," he said. "My dad would whoop me: 'You're not going to school now, you'll embarrass us!' But I never gave a fuck what people think."
Thugger also recounted the moment he saw the purple gown by V-Files designer Alessandro Trincone that he wore a on the cover of JEFFREY. "When I seen that dress," Thug said, "I felt like God gave it to me."
Later in the conversation, he revealed his plans for his wedding attire. "There will be two brides," he told magazine, explaining he and designer Jerrika Karlae will both wear gowns down the aisle. The pair met almost three years ago in Gucci Mane's studio, and Thugger has been very open in his adoration for her.
Earlier this year Young Thug declared there was "no such thing as gender," cementing his position as hip-hop's most radical gender visionary. Clearly, he's going to keep on carving out a brand new space in pop-culture for those who want to teardown the gender binary — or at least loosen things up a little.
