17 years after Cruel Intentions first fostered a sexual awakening in millions of tweenagers around America and the world, the risqué 90s thriller is staging a comeback. Last month we learned that NBC had ordered the pilot for a series about the original movie. Now it looks like they've tapped Sarah Michelle Gellar to reprise her iconic role as sex-positive antagonist Kathryn Merteuil. Gellar confirmed the news, as most news is confirmed in 2016, via epic #tbt Instagram selfie.

"#throwbackthursday (a bit early in Los Angeles) this picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions," she wrote. "Its me #rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz (exec producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions. That's right 'everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way' #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv"

As per Deadline's earlier report, "NBC's Cruel Intentions follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of her brother, the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father's legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined." No word on whether the remake will feature any same-sex tongue action or a seminal late-90s soundtrack.

All Gellar needs to do now is channel Merteuil's wicked powers of coercion to rope in co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillipe, and Selma Blair. And maybe bring back Buffy...
