In a glittery galaxy far, far away, there lived beautiful creatures in brightly colored coats, shaggy collars, faux fur scarves, metallic kilts and hooded jackets. Inspired by Ryan McGinley's cave photography, for her latest sci-fi-esque collection Hannah Weiland transformed the BFC showspace into the dark and shimmering world of Planet Shrimps, complete with giant rock formations and blasting disco sounds, put together by DJ Hanna Hanra. Following on from last season there was another sumptuous collaboration with shoe designer Sophia Webster, with each girl wearing fairytale tartan slip ons, accessorized with candy-colored fur. There were also signs of Hannah's whimsical doodles (including Grease's bubblegum-haired Frenchy), embroidered, this time, as colorful badges and stuck on slouchy sweaters and long coats. Moving away from her usual somewhat naïve palette of fluorescent pinks and blues, this time coats came in rich reds, camel browns, and emerald greens, while shaggy collars and cuffs brought an element of sophisticated 70s cool, looking like something straight out of Studio 54. A far cry from the one-product collection of season's past, this season there was something for everyone, which shows not only how far Hannah has come, but how much more she has within her to go.
