After Kanye West was given community service as part of his punishment for attacking a photographer, he opted to speak at a community college in LA. Since his appearances (which will reportedly continue until June), male presence in the fashion course at the LA Trade Technical College has increased by 40%. Seems like the rapper's presence has proved that design can be for dudes too. Kanye doubtlessly took inspiration from one of his fashion idols, the late Louise Wilson, who he said was "the baddest professor of all time, of any fashion school ever" in a recent interview with Zane Lowe for the BBC. West is reported to be offering personal mentoring to the students, always a hallmark of Wilson, whose tutelage of the likes of Christopher Kane, Erdem and Richard Nicoll propelled them to fashion fame.
